Here's 6 signs you're ready to slow down and take a break from the rush. You may be wearing yourself out without knowing it or even giving it a thought. Unfortunately many who do this eventually crash.
1. You can't stop or you won't get back up again. You know the feeling you get that if you sit down for just a minute you'll crash. The tiredness will set in and it will take more energy that you have to get started again. A short break from something should provide you with some rest, not destroy your energy levels all together.
2. You don't know why you are even doing the things you're doing, and don't have the time to question it. When you're living like that you lose the intention of why you started in the first place. When you lose the purpose or motivation behind what you are doing, you lose the heart behind it as well. When you lose heart, what's the point?
3. You feel unhealthy. There's really nothing more important that your health. Without it, you could well...lose you. If you are feeling unhealthy chances are something needs to change and you need to slow down and figure out what it is.
4. You can't remember the last time you had a meaningful conversation with a loved one. These people are important in your life. It's hard to invest fully into a relationship if you don't have the time to do it. Slow down and make time for the ones you love before it's too late and your relationship is lost.
5. You have lost your creativity. Everyone is creative, most people start to lose this as they get older. Society encourages a lot of other things, being creative typically gets knocked off the list of "important". It should be embraced. Often being creative provides rest, some down time, and time to think and work through your thoughts. You can be creative in many different ways. Being creative doesn't just mean being artistic, you can be creative inventing meals in the kitchen, or taking photographs, or putting outfits together, and so on. Find something you enjoy and let that creativity flow.
6. You feel tired and overwhelmed. This one seems obvious. The part that typically stumps us is remembering to take action. It's easy to put off resting when you have something you need to do. Unfortunately a lot us never get around to the resting part and that's where it becomes a problem.
Have you said, "yep that's me" to any of these? If so you may want to consider a slower pace in your life, even if it's only for a season. Everyone needs to rest, we can't be super human. Arrange your life in such a way that this is a priority, trust you will feel better once you are rested. Often everything else will start to fall into place and you will feel better.
Slow down and rest up.
